B7971 Four-Letter-Word
|
A B7971 based Four-Letter-Word clock, designed by Raymond Weisling. This clock is famous, for a couple of reasons! The original even appeared in Playboy Magazine in 196?, right is an extract from the original article. Raymond Weisling's was selling kits for his Four-Letter-Word clock from his Zetalink website, which has in the mean time been taken over by TubeLink. There was some controversy over his kits, and therefore the original FLW has become a relatively rare find. Many kit builders are owed money by Raymond, who has dissapeared. Personally, I do NOT recommend ordering anything from Zetalink. The old website is offline so do not try to purchase anything! You have been warned! There are a couple of alternative designs available, one of my favorites is from Peter Hand. The B7971 tubes are also getting very rare and expensive, so if you are planning on building one of these, get the tubes together before you buy a kit! Peter Hand has an alternative FLW design based on Telefunken ZM1350 tubes, which are flat, much cheaper, and much easier to find. More pictures coming soon! |
